Hello:
No matter what the message, no matter which medium, effective communication always starts with this essential question: What response do I want?
Once you identify the response, you're on your way. You will have taken the single most important step in any communication campaign, whether written or spoken, printed or online, private or public.
And, that's also where I come into the process. My name is Bob Abbott, and as professional communicator with wide ranging experience in many types of communication, in various media, I'll work with you to:
- ask a series of questions that help clarify, qualify, and quantify the responses
- find the best channels for reaching your audience
- create messages designed to get the response you want
More specifically, I can provide help in these areas:
- writing, on a single document basis or an ongoing basis
- newsletter publishing
- media relations
- online lead generation
- communication consulting
I can help you communicate effectively with:
- prospects and customers
- employees
- members
- other important people
I can help you reach them through:
- written documents, such as sales letters and memos to employees
- newsletters, both online (electronic) and offline (printed)
- websites and blogs
- media, including newspapers, radio, and television
The results should include one or more of these outcomes:
- increased productivity, such as:
> less time spent writing, more time spent doing what you do best
> better sales closing ratios
> increased employee productivity
- changed or reinforced perceptions, such as:
> positioning your company with prospective customers
> keeping your value proposition in front of existing customers
> giving employees reasons to strive for excellence
- better performance, such as:
> cost-efficient generation of sales leads
> reduced employee turnover
> a focus on key issues
Who am I?
My name is Bob (or more formally, Robert F.) Abbott. I bring both education and experience to your writing or communication projects:
A Master of Business Administration degree which provides theoretical knowledge of all major areas of business and organizational management, from marketing to human resources to strategy. For you, this means I can usually get up to speed relatively quickly on your business needs, whether I'm familiar with your industry or not.
I combine this education with nearly 10 years experience as a radio news writer and announcer, where the emphasis is anything but theoretical. Radio news emphasizes speed, simple messages, and what the 'news' means to listeners. For you, this means I'm able to write quickly and effectively, as well as create and deliver concise messages.
In 1991, I founded The Newsletter Company, which has published newsletters for a range of clients, from a dental lab to a reservoir simulation research institute in the oil industry. For you, this means I have experience in managing and delivering on communication projects.
Combining my education, news experience, and newsletter work, I wrote and published A Manager's Guide to Newsletters: Communicating for Results, the strategic guide to newsletter publishing. You can read the first three chapters of this book (free) by clicking here: http://www.managersguide.com/mgrgde3.pdf
From 1999 until 2006, I wrote and published a free, online newsletter about business communication. You can read some of articles from the newsletter (and pick up lots of communication tips) at: Communication in Business
In addition to my radio experience, I'm a veteran Toastmaster, with excellent public speaking skills and knowledge, so I can help you make speeches and presentations. For you this means I can help you speak to an audience directly, or through a microphone.
I've been an active volunteer in many organizations. As a Director of the Airdrie Festival of Lights, I've managed many media campaigns, writing articles, doing broadcast interviews, and negotiating media sponsorships. For you, this means I can help you get your story in front of reporters and editors, or help you develop an advertising campaign.
And, since 1999, I've been selling online and working on Internet marketing campaigns. For you, this means I can help you with online lead generation, web marketing strategies, and online newsletters (whether text or HTML).
Regardless of where you are in North America, or what reponse you want, I'd like to help you reach the people and organizations that matter to you. Whether they're customers, employees, or other types of stakeholders, let's get your message out.
Call me at (403) 809-6842 or send an email to info@employee-communication.com
There's no charge or obligation for a first phone conversation or an initial, face-to-face meeting.
I look forward to hearing from you!
